The ‘Hold for Authentication’ state on the print job in the Mac print queue appears because the username or password is incorrect and may be stored on the Keychain.
- Printing may show a Hold for Authentication message instead of a login box. In some cases, pressing the refresh button will launch the login box.
- Verify the Registered user is selected then enter yale\your NetID & password to authenticate.
Note: If the login screen does not pop up, the incorrect username and password may be stored in the keychain. Continue to step 3.
- Find the Keychain Access in Utilities. If you have trouble locating it, go to the magnifying glass in the upper right-hand corner and search for Keychain Access.
- Under Keychains in the top left corner select “login” at the top and “All Items” below that. Scroll down and locate “BluePrint_BW, BluePrint_Color or paperc-prd-ps3”.
- Highlight the entry and press the delete key on the keyboard and click “Delete” when prompted.
- Re-initiate a print job to the printer. Verify Registered User is selected and Yale\ your NetID and password.
- You should receive a message indicating your document is held in the queue.
