How to Configure PaperCut YalePrintGuest Queue on a Mac

Open Printer Settings

1. Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner.
2. Select System Settings.
3. Scroll down and click Printers & Scanners.

Open the Add Printer Window

1. Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax.
2. Wait for the Add Printer window to appear.

Enable the Advanced Feature (If Not Visible)

⚠️ The Advanced tab is hidden by default on macOS.

1. In the Add Printer window, right-click (or Control-click) in the empty gray area of the toolbar at the top.
2. Choose Customize Toolbar…
3. Drag the Advanced (⚙️ gear icon) into the toolbar.
4. Click Done.

Open the Advanced Tab

1. Click the newly added Advanced (⚙️) tab.

Configure the IPPS Printer

1. Set Type to:
   • Internet Printing Protocol (IPPS)
2. In URL, enter the printer’s IPPS address, for example:
3. ipps://paperc-prd-ps1.its.yale.edu:9164/printers/YalePrintGuest
4. In Name, enter a friendly printer name (anything you want).
5. For Use, select:
   • Generic PostScript Printer

Add the Printer

1. Click Add.
2. Check the ‘Duplex Printing Unit’ box and click ‘OK’. This allows you to print double-sided pages.
